ROL Wheels showed off some new carbon-rimmed wheels called D’Huez C24 at NAHBS.
The name breaks down to “C” for carbon and “24” for the 24.5mm rim height. They also have an impressive 22.6mm width at the brake track. Rim weight is 385g for the clincher, tubular is 295g. Built up with DT Swiss 240 and Sapim CXRay spokes, wheel sets weigh in at 1310g and 1090g for tubulars. The rims are made in France and they’re developing a carbon Road Tubeless clincher rim that they’re hoping to have out in 60 days.
More hoops, tech and photos after the break…
ROL founder Sean Lambert says because of the resins they use, “these rims won’t suffer from any heat induced warping from braking, which you won’t get from any rim made in Asia because of restrictions on the types of resins that can be shipped into China. There’s no brake fade.”
They also offer a 45mm deep version in both clincher and tubular, and all of them have a foam core, which Lambert says eliminates that hollow, booming sound common among deep carbon rims.
$2300 per wheelset for any. They also have an assortment of alloy wheels, too. All have a two year manufacturer’s defect warranty.
