Inspired by the AMG GT R and limited to just 50 total pieces, Rotwild has once again collaborated with Mercedes on a special edition superbike. This time it’s a lightweight R.S2 carbon disc brake road racer that gets tricked out and ready to fly.

The R.S2 Beast of the Green Hell limited edition takes Rotwild’s lightweight disc brake road bike and reimagines it as an AMG racer. It takes its name a green paint from the Mercedes-AMG GT R coupe street racer – “Developed on the racetrack. Built for the Street.”

This R.S2 is the third collabo bike between Rotwild & Mercedes-AMG, celebrating the carmaker’s 50th anniversary with 50 bikes. While Rotwild is most known for their mountain bikes, they’ve had some variation of the carbon R.S2 in their line-up for almost a decade. The R.S2 has had disc brakes since back in 2014, but the latest version of the bike has improved a good bit since then.

S.R2 tech details

The R.S2 Beast of the Green Hell starts out as a lightweight Module Monocoque Technology (MMT2) carbon bike, built from a mix of high & medium modulus (HT & MT) fibers. Seatstays on the R.S2 get flattened to damp vibrations, while stiff tapered chainstays deliver excellent power transfer.

As much as a premium build and spec it gets, the bike only gets a 15mm thru-axle up front & a QR in the rear, also sticking with post mount brakes.

The limited edition bike gets a fairly unique build. That starts with the rare Dura-Ace mechanical shifting/hydraulic disc brake groupset and a set of Crankbrothers Cobalt 11 carbon wheels selected for their low rotational mass. Cockpit is rounded out with an integrated aero Pro Stealth Evo bar+stem combo up front and a customized AMG Ergon saddle on a split VCLS flexing Ergon CF3 Pro carbon post out back.

The limited edition Rotwild x Mercedes AMG R.S2 Beast of the Green Hell sells for 7,109€ and comes in five stock sizes (50-58cm).

That is one beautiful bike. Didn’t know Rotwild even make road bikes.

All other aspects aside, that little kink in the downtube ruins it for me.

Yeah, this bike is calling out for Lightweights or AX Lightness or something in that vein.

If they wanted to pick up the gold from the calipers of the car, why not make the bike calipers gold too?

I don’t mind that the whole idea is silly and superficial (it can still be fun). But come on, if you’re going to do it, put some effort in.

That is a damn good looking car, it deserves better.

I’d love to have that car so I could sell it and buy bike stuff.

Not a bad looking bike… except for the tacky logos on it.

The frame should be all green like the car. The stripey crap kills it for me.

Wow…. so many wrongs and uglies there: Postmount brakes, those wheels, 15mm front axle and QR rear wheel, seatpost, kinked downtube… paintjob!
The car is nice though!
