We’ve seen this 2020 Contessa Spark RC 900, before. It’s the same World Cup winning cross-country bike of last year’s World Champion Kate Courtney, down to the paint job she rode to a Nova Mesto win last season. Now for 2020, Scott has officially added it to their Contessa women’s bike line-up, where is joined by a Contessa Addict Gravel, the Contessa Ransom that got upgrades before the men last summer, and a Contessa Strike eRIDE eMTB.
2020 Scott Contessa Spark RC 900 women’s XC race mountain bike
While some companies still don’t spec any of their women’s bikes on par with the top men’s models, this one definitely doesn’t fall into that category. It helps that it’s a replica of the bike American Kate Courtney raced (and won) on during the first half of last season’s XC World Cup. It also happens to be one of our most featured pro bikes, thanks to consistent winning records of both Courtney and unstoppable teammate Nino Schurter.
The 100mm travel Scott Spark RC 900 has effectively been around since 2017, mainly getting suspension & tuning updates since then. But it has continued with winning performances. The Contessa Kate Courtney replica gets built up with the latest in RockShox suspension, a color-matched SID Select+ fork and custom Nude 3-mode rear shock, both operated by Scott’s TwinLoc suspension remote.
Drivetrain sticks with a mechanical groupset for simplicity (and to control costs), opting for a SRAM X01 Eagle 12-speed setup paired with Level TLM disc brakes. Cockpit is a pro replica too, with the one-piece Syncros Fraser iC SL Carbon & Women Pro lock-on grip, and a light Syncros Duncan carbon seatpost topped by a ti-railed Syncros Celista women’s saddle. The Contessa Spark RC 900 retails for $6000 / 6000€ with a claimed weight of 10.5kg/23.15lb.
2020 Scott Contessa Addict Gravel 15 women’s gravel bike
A new addition to the Contessa family for 2020, the women’s version of the Addict Gravel comes just in this single $3000 / 3000€ build with a complete Shimano GRX 2×11 build, with a claimed weight of 8.81kg/19.42lb.
The HMF carbon frame is the second-tier layup of the Addict Gravel lineup, paired here with a drivetrain mixing RX810 derailleurs with RX600 cranks & shifters. Available only in Contessa purple, it also gets Syncros finishing kit from alloy wheels to a women’s specific alloy cockpit including the Syncros Creston Flare flared drop bar. More affordable alloy Contessa Speedster Gravel bikes are also available.
2020 Scott Contessa Ransom 910 women’s 170mm carbon enduro bike
The Contessa Ransom is the women’s version of the 170mm carbon 29er enduro bike we saw Scott launch in the summer of 2018. Then last summer, added the premium Contessa model, getting the same trail versatility with a custom shock tune and build kit for women trail riders.
Available in just one matte mauve complete bike build, the Contessa Ransom 910 gets 29″ wheels and on-the-fly adjustable Descend/Traction Control/Lockout mode control over suspension & geometry. The $5500 / 5500€ Fox 35/Nude TR EVOL suspension, a SRAM GX Eagle drivetrain & Shimano XT 4-piston brakes.
2020 Scott Contessa Strike eRide 910 women’s 140mm eMTB
The last new Contessa addition is the Strike eRide e-bike, a shorter travel version of the Genius eRide. The $5000 / 5000€ aluminum Contessa Strike gets 140mm of trail-ready suspension front & rear, with a Marzocchi Z2 Air fork, Fox Float shock, SRAM SX Eagle drivetrain, 4-piston Shimano brakes & Contessa women-specific contact points. Powered by a Bosch CX motor and an internal PowerTube battery, the e-bike has a claimed weight of 22.65kg/49/93lb.
