No matter what you feel about the Rapha + Palace collaboration, it’s successful enough to garner another round of production. This time, the fashion-focused yet cycling-capable gear channels their inner 80s/90s fever dreams. The unlikely sponsor logos in seraph fonts remind us that everything was better before the internet…

Woven and Embroidered

The pieces recall when wool jerseys with woven logos lasted forever (unless you have moths). Pastels paired with primary colors and a casual fit seem to be the pallet for this iteration of Rapha + Palace.

What is it – Fashion Faux Pas or L’alta Moda?

For the Rapha20 and Past Forward celebrations, Rapha partnered with skateboarding pioneers Palace for a limited edition collection. The collection honors some of the era’s most memorable looks with a street-style spin on cycling design.

Less Serious – More Fun

A selection of heritage Rapha silhouettes is infused with Palace’s signature irreverence. The designs are playful inversions of cycling’s most iconic colors and sponsors.

Enough with agency models for cycling apparel photoshoot. Is that hard to find an actual cyclist for few snapshots?

Looks generic AF. No amount of film photography will redeem that.

I agree! In addition to terribly ugly clothes, models that obviously have nothing to do with cycling simply to fulfill a purpose…

Ugly… Everything is very ugly! Both the bikes and the clothes from the Palace line are horrible!

It’s blinding to look at this ugly pink and yellow. It looks like it was drawn by a child… And obviously they charge a lot of dollars for some lost person to buy it…

You’d have hated MTB in the late 80s. I loved it, still do. And the Euro roadies of the late 80s were cool AF. Get with it daddy-o.

I came from BMX and lived intensely in the 80s. At that time there were cool things, and horrible things. And these are among the horrible ones.
And I liked B52s and REM…

I like it. I don’t see why we need to pay premium aspirational prices to have kit that takes influences from that era well but no problem with fashion brands doing fashion things.

Enough of the bland kit, white socks and shoes with brown shorts and all that generic modern roadie stuff. Channel those ’88 Euro Pro vibes and get garish.

Perfect! That’s exactly it! Paying absurd amounts for something that tastes relatively strange and is called “cool”. We notice that everything there is fake… the colors, the models, the grain of the photo.

If we talk about the 80s, look at Haro Master… an example of good taste!

I bought it! Palace is a fun streetwear brand and I love that they are involved with cycling. And I love that they infuse some fun into Rapha, which tends to be uninteresting from a design standpoint. This might be more of a cheeky take on the sport than someone like Paul Smith might create, but cyclists need to lighten up.
