Blubrake has quickly become one of the leading names in anti-lock brakes for bicycles. Now, they’re joining another big name in the brake world – Shimano. The two companies announced a newly-formed partnership at the start of Eurobike that will lead to safer stopping for all.
With ebikes and e-cargo bikes being marketed as a way to get more people on bikes and out of their cars, Blubrake sees a need for bicycle ABS systems to provide safer stopping for riders of all skill levels. According to the press release, “Shimano ABS by Blubrake significantly reduces the risk of the front wheel lock-up and rear wheel lift-off, even during panic braking, thus improving the riding experience of every cyclist and reducing the number of accidents.”
By partnering with Shimano, Blubrake brings the ABS patents and know-how, while Shimano will provide their wide range of brakes, manufacturing knowledge, and commercial & service networks. Together, they hope to better integrate the ABS systems into future bike frames and from the sounds of it, integrate them with Shimano ebike systems and brakes.
