Slotting in just below Sigma’s mega bright PowerLED Evo light, the new Karma Evo looks promising for a lightweight, 320 lumen light all for under $200. The Karma looks to be quite compact, but still promises to put out a wide, powerful, and focused beam all at the same time.

How does the Karma Evo compare to other lights in this category?

Find out after the break.

Most lights in this category typically make excellent lights for serious commuters, casual night riders, or experience mountain bike night riders looking for extra illumination on their bar or helmet. The fact that the Karma Evo has up to 12 hour burn time with the IION battery pack, and up to an incredible 24 hours with the IION XL pack, will probably attract customer looking for a light weight, powerful light, that won’t have to be recharged every day. Also, riders who are looking for illumination for 12 or 24 hour races who may already have an HID or high powered LED light, might see the Karma EVO as an option for an inexpensive spare.

Obviously, $199 is still a chunk of change, but compared with some of the 900+ lumen lights out there that run upwards of $700+, it starts to look like a bargain.

What does $199 get you? The Karma EVO Pro Light Set includes the Karma Evo Light, IION battery pack, charger, and helmet and handlebar mounts.

Of course, the Karma EVO is completely waterproof, and features a rugged housing which should hold up to a number of spills. Illumination wise, Sigma claims that while the new optic diffuses more light up close to better see what’s right in front of your wheel, the EVO throws a powerful beam which will illuminate up to 260 feet away.

Buy a Magicshine if you want your battery to start on fire…. Cheap product = cheap results / 20,000 units recalled.

I’m not going to buy another sigma product until they redesign the mount on the bottom of the light. I’ve had 3 crack and fail on me!
