You’ve used it, and you love it… Silca recycles carbon fiber into its FiberFoam sealant. But, for those who love the brand (we’ve seen you in the comments), a few items are missing from a complete tubeless system.

But, not anymore, with the introduction of Ultimate Tubeless Valves and Rim Tape. These new offerings complement the confidence of Silca’s Ultimate Tubeless Tire Sealant. The latest products are designed with ease of installation and durability in mind, improving airflow and serviceability.

Silca offers its new valves and tape (and sealant) across all genres of cycling.

Ultimate Tubeless Valves

Silca’s Ultimate Tubeless Valves feature a low-profile base that uses a 4mm hex key for installation. The Valve has a conical rubber base that improves sealing without scuffing or scratching the rim.

The aluminum valve cap also doubles as a valve core remover.

Silca engineered the Ultimate valves with a large internal bore diameter for optimized airflow. However, we’re unsure of the exact bore diameter at this time to compare with other valves. Thanks to insert-compatible base channels, the valves maintain high airflow even with tire inserts.

The valves are available in 50mm and 70mm lengths and fit modern rim profiles. Precision-machined from aluminum, the valves also feature Silca’s limited warranty.

Ultimate Tubeless Rim Tape

Silca designed its Ultimate Tubeless Rim Tape to address many of the rim tape-related frustrations. Triple-ply construction resists tearing, overstretching, leaking, and the annoying residue left behind after removal. The tape consists of abrasion-resistant PET and PU layers, with a proprietary top film layer.

Silca pressure-rates the Ultimate Rim Tape to 120 PSI (8.3 bar) and claims performance across a wide temperature range of -4°F to 140°F (-20°C to 60°C). The tape is offered in 10-meter rolls, which cover four 700c wheels, in 27mm or 32mm widths. For rims with an internal width between 23-27mm, Silca recommends the 27mm tape. For 28-32mm rims, the 32mm tape is recommended.

Silca designed the tape to balance stiffness and stretch for easy installation. However, Silca includes finishing patches for perfect results.

A Silca Tubeless Ecosystem

Silca’s goal is to create an incredibly high-performing tubeless system within its brand. They feel that too often, other brands overlook products such as valves, tape, and sealant, designing them as merely adequate. This results in poor performance for both the average rider and the seasoned athlete.

But not anymore.

“As Silca grows, we’re moving beyond being known as just a pump brand. Expanding into wax, lubricants, and cleaners showed us how often products in this industry are developed in isolation. Rim tapes have been historically created to work well enough to just be a stock option with wheels; no further thought on how well it works with sealants or valves. Our approach is different: we build the right foundations, designed for cohesive systems consumers can truly trust,” Richard Pool, Marketing Director at Silca, said.

Has any company ever released any numbers for this “optimized borehole” claim? Obviously the borehole cannot be bigger than the standardized diameter of the rim hole. So the way I see it the wiggle room you have as a manufacturer is the wall thickness of the the valve – the lower portion of it to be precise, because the upper has to fit a standard valve core. So that should be something like ±0.2mm between different valves, or am I missing something?

theoretically one can increase the opening gap between the stem and the valve core if the valve core itself or the interface inbetween is redesigned. but it won’t be standard anymore

I don’t think anyone is going to release dimensions the bore diameter of their valve stems, but I did ask Reserve about their Fillmore valve stems and if the bore diameter was the same size or different than the standard presta valve stem bore diameter. They wouldn’t give dimensions but did say the Fillmore valve stems bore diameter is larger. I guess if you push OD to the max end of the spec tolerance and increase the ID at the same time, you will gain have less flow restriction.

The bigger issue is the presta valve itself. That’s what limits air flow, since that’s the choke point, point where air flows through the smallest x-section area. I don’t know Silca works around that. The Fillmore valve’s poppet occupies a lot less x-section area than a presta valve. Some other valves in recent years have also provided higher flow by reducing restrictions.

Maybe someone should get some Silca valves and pull them apart to see the dimensions inside are.

According to Silca (check his youtube), it’s the borehole diameter of the valve inside the tyre. Where the valve core is screwed in is the same, it’s the other end that’s bigger on Silca valves.

Stan’s exo-core valve was tested by them to provide 4-5 times the airflow of a typical presta valve. They were displaying the test at Sea Otter 2025. The pin is very narrow and the stopping mechanism is not in the tube itself – it’s above it. That’s the highest flow number I’ve seen any company advertise. Plus it has some other benefits. https://bikerumor.com/stans-exocore-solid-brass-core-clog-free-high-flow-tubeless-valve/#:~:text=To%20operate%20the%20valve%2C%20you,presta%20core%20into%20the%20base.
