Smith has been around for 60 years now, and to celebrate, they’re relaunching a style from the past. That would be 1987 to be exact, when the Ultralite sunglasses were the freshest shades on the scene.

Many of those style points from the 80’s are coming back around, so what better time for Smith to dig into the archive and refresh a classic. The retro ski goggle-inspired oversized shades have a classic cylindrical shield lens with a slight wraparound curve and ventilation holes to keep things chill.

KEY FEATURES

• ChromaPop™️ lenses enhance contrast and natural color to make the details pop • Evolve™️ bio-based frame material is lightweight and durable
• Goggle-inspired strap compatible temple tips
• Archive Collection fleece pouch

• Medium to large fit, XL coverage
• 6-base cylindrical shield lens curvature
• AutoLock hinges hold frames open for easy one-hand on and off
• Adjustable Megol nose pads provide non-slip grip so glasses stay put

The glasses are available in five different styles from mild to wild, and sell for $175 with an archive collection fleece pouch. Available now.

I’m sure there will be a Sutro comparison, but the Sutros I have owned don’t stay in place and interfere with all three of my helmets. If these are similar to the Smith Wildcat in fit and helmet (non) interference I would have be quite happy.

The original Sutros don’t have rubber on the temples. They’re the only sunglasses I’ve ever had bounce off my face in a race. The Sutro Lite / Lite Sweep added the rubber back and are much less likely to slip.
