Ya know, we asked founder and lead designer Bill Shook a long while back why they didn’t offer a Lefty compatible hub. The answer at the time was, predictably, that it was a numbers game. There simply wasn’t enough demand to justify it.
Perhaps encouraged by Cannondale’s seemingly improving inventory management and growth since the change in ownership and such over the past several years, they’ll soon be offering a hub and wheelsets for the one-sided fork.
The front hub is a mere 132g, so it’s light enough for racing, but with 32 spoke drilling, making it so you can build a wheel touch enough to handle daily training use, too. Here’s some more directly from AC:
Bill designed the axle to be stiff. We have precision bearing bore alignment. The hub is for racing or training. Smooth, light weight designed to roll on and on. The aluminum cap and steel lefty bolt are included (weighed without cap and bolt). The hub will be available individually for sale or in wheelsets this Fall. To be first shown at the Eurobike Show in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
