If you know where to look, you can catch a lot of interesting parts floating around the Sea Otter Classic. In the case of Chris King’s latest addition to their bottom bracket lineup, it was actually pointed out first by our readers on the launch of the Chris King 40th Anniversary Santa Cruz 5010. The bike is running a RaceFace crank, with a CK bottom bracket. But how can that be since a threaded BB for a 30mm spindle doesn’t yet exist from Chris King? Well, it’s on the way. We’ve been told by Chris King that the official announcement will come in the next few weeks. We’re assuming that along with the announcement will come availability but we haven’t heard for sure. Apparently the bottom bracket will fit a number of 30mm spindle cranks for use in BSA threaded frames which should make a lot of people happy to have a CK level bottom bracket available.
Over at the ENVE booth, it was another story with our fist look at their upcoming Centerlock Road hubs…
Following the footsteps of their recently introduced Centerlock MTB hubs, the Centerlock Road options were snuck into the show in the 4oth Anniversary livery. We’re told that they will initially be available in Olive Crate as well as black with a similar situation to the ThreadFit 30 BB – the official announcement is coming soon. Shown here with quick release axles front and rear, we have to assume that they will also be available with thru axle capability due to the number of disc brake bikes with thru axles. More details when we have them.
