Spinciti Amsterdam e-bike offers multiple motors, 50 mile range, hits sub-$1k price!

Spinciti announced their first e-bike, dubbed the Amsterdam. The commuter-focused bike features a flat bar, fenders, an 8-speed drivetrain, and hydraulic disc brakes. Three motor options fit different budgets – and maximum pedal assist speeds (20, 25, and 28mph, coming from 250W, 350W, and 500W motors).

Spinciti is a San-Francisco-based startup that aims to bring e-bikes to new price points – even below $1,000 if you are an early backer of their Indiegogo campaign. With multiple models and commuter-friendly features, Spinciti is aiming to promote cycling as transportation, and get average citizens to forego the automobile.

The alloy frame uses an internal battery in the downtube, which may be removed and swapped to a fresh battery. No word on the model of motor used, but it appears to be a rear hub unit.

Fenders and a chain guard come standard, to keep you as clean and dry as possible in the event of rain.

A 35 lux headlight comes standard, emitting light up to 16 feet.

There are three effective spec levels, each featuring a different motor output. The 250W version is a Class 1 e-bike, limited to 20mph of assistance. The 350W and 500W versions are Class 3 e-bikes, and limited to 25 and 28mph, respectively. Maximum range is quoted at 50 miles.

A proprietary app (iOS and Android) uses Bluetooth connectivity to track information such as calories burned, distance, speed, and equivalent steps. It also integrates with other apps such as Strava and Apple Health.
Both High and Low frame styles are available (standard and dropped top tube) in a variety of color options: Dark Gray, Navy Blue, Red, Matte White, and Black. Geometry and sizing information has not been released at this time.

The Spinciti Indiegogo campagin has 23 days left as of this writing, and has already met its funding goal. Normal retail prices for the Amsterdam will range from $1,850 to $2,650, with early promotional pricing as low as $999.
