Cut slim, lightweight, and compressible to the size of an apple, Sportful’s new Hot Pack jacket (mens’ and ladies’) and vest should be “ideal for the start of the race, for descents, and for unexpected showers.”  As invaluable as a good wind layer can be, we’ve found it surprisingly difficult to find a well-cut wind shell.  Sportful are looking to fill this need with the Hot Pack, which “is extremely lightweight and compact with total front wind protection, outstanding breathability, and a moderate degree of water protection, but in the absolute minimal package to fit into any jersey pocket or saddle bag.”  Hit the jump for all of the details…

The Hot Pack jacket is extremely technical, with every detail—from the materials to the cut—designed for performance. The jacket provides front wind protection, outstanding breathability, and a moderate degree of water protection, but in the absolute minimal package and with a close-to-body fit so the jacket won’t flap in the wind and slow you down.

Hot Pack hits the scales at just 81 g. (size large), and it is breathable and surprisingly water resistant if you get caught out in a shower. The semi-transparent material allows your team jersey underneath to be seen.

The cycling-specific cut is slim so there’s little flapping, and the generous length at the rear keeps your lower back covered. The sleeves are plenty long enough to cover your wrists, and the cuffs are elasticized for effective sealing. Back vents and small perforations on the sides help increase breathability.

If you do start to get hot, just whip the jacket off; it will compress to the size of an apple in its stuff sack and fit easily into any jersey pocket.

The Hot Pack jacket was specially selected for Saxo Bank-SunGard Team.

“The jacket is light, compact with a superb fit and unbelievable water resistant. Even after five hours in pouring rain, my torso was still warm and comfortable.” – Chris Anker Sørensen, Saxo Bank-SunGard Team.

is there any online retailers for sportful?

I question how good it is for the start of a race since it’s not clear, obscuring a race number and team jersey.

@djconnel – It is clear, that’s a white jersey. http://www.sportful.it/images/articoli/w10/big/0110777_101.jpg

I attest to Sportful’s quality. They are like ASSOS, but cheaper and better VFM. They use the latest fabrics, clever design and their and their chamois are amongst the comfiest I’ve tried. I know this sounds like a blatant placement, but I like their stuff a lot and I don’t think they are considered as higly as they should.
