Sometimes new products are hidden in plain sight. That seems to be the case with Giro’s recent Regime road shoe launch, but it wasn’t the shoes that caught the attention of one of our readers. ‘Ansgar’ pointed out what looks to be a new Giro road helmet on one of the models, and it appears to be a new model equipped with MIPS Spherical.
Taking a closer look, the helmet has the tell tale ‘swoop’ that forms the separation of the two halves of MIPS Spherical helmets. But compared to the Aether below (which is currently the only Spherical helmet in Giro’s road line), there are clear differences in vent structure. It appears that the clear AURA reinforcing arch on the Aether may have been replaced with painted ribs, which would hint that this is a new lower priced MIPS Spherical option for the road.
There are also major differences in vent structure compared to the recently launched Manifest Spherical, which would confirm that this is not simply a Manifest without the visor. There’s also no visible mount for the visor which could still be seen if you removed it from the helmet.
We didn’t expect to get Giro to cough up any details, but had to ask and got the classic “no comment.” We’d wager that the helmet is probably close to launching if it’s being ridden in, so as soon as it does, you know you’ll be able to read about it here!
