You can find a lot on instagram. Sometimes, with the help of a little birdy, you can even find what appear to be unreleased mountain bikes – like these two, seemingly from Marin Bikes.
First up is a post from Marin’s International Sales & Marketing Manager, John Oldale. What appear to be a steel hardtail with a very slack front end, could this be a steel alternative to their San Quentin hardtail? The bike looks like it could be running 29″ wheels, and lacks the multitude of braze-ons that the Pine Mountain includes – which is currently the only steel hardtail mountain bike in their line up. This bike also looks to have different cable routing with it run externally on top of the downtube before tucking into the chainstays. Who’s excited for an aggressive steel hardtail from Marin?
Kids look like they’re about to get their own aggressive hardtail from Marin as well. Recently posted on Olivia “Livshreds” Taylor’s instagram feed, we see the talented little shredder on what looks to be a new model from Marin. Olivia was recently picked up as a Marin UK sponsored rider, and based on her instagram feed, the 9 year old is going places…
Judging by the high end spec including a RockShox fork and the aggressive geometry, could this be a kid’s version of the San Quentin? Obviously, the wheels are smaller – likely 24″ with what looks to be Vee Flow Snap tires.
Currently, Marin offers the Hawk Hill JR as a high end full suspension kid’s bike, but they don’t have any hardtails above the Bayview Trail. It would make sense that they would be adding a hardtail with high end components for kids who need a more trail-worthy bike, but don’t want to make the leap to full suspension just yet.
More when we have it.
