Orbea leaked us this shadow shot of their totally redesigned full carbon Alma 29er.  The original Alma 29er (below, left) had a more traditional double triangle frame but was the first monocoque carbon 29er mountain bike frame on the market.

Now, the Alma gets the sleeker interrupted top tube of it’s 26″ brethren (below, right).  While we won’t have full spec release on this bike until later, it’s definitely going to be aimed at the upper end of the race crowd.  It’ll be interesting to see if it ends up with one of the new 2×10 drivetrains coming out…because several more will be announced before this bike’s May 29 launch at the Mellow Johnny’s Classic.  Word is Georgia Gould is likely to make the switch to big wheels, and other Luna team members may follow suit.  Now, if Julien Absalon makes the switch, that’ll be something to see…after all, he’s won two Olympic Golds on the 26″ version.

The new Alma 29er will be available in three sizes and two color options.  If you’re near Austin and an Orbea owner, head over to the Mellow Johnny’s Classic…they’ll be hooking you up with your own cheering section and special gifts.  Oh, and you’ll be among the first to see this bike in person.

Not into hardtails?  Look for their new lightweight 6″ travel Rallon enduro mountain bike later this month.
