Hiding out amongst the Xentis wheels, and Lake shoes was a special little build from the guys at Stage Race – the all new Olympia 849. Built with a longer wheel base and a stable ride, the frame weighs in at or under 849g just like Olympia’s 949 29er mountain bike. Add in a number of Tune parts, and you get an impressive road bike that tips the scales at just over 12 lbs. 12.12 to be exact – thanks to a blend of Toray T1000, T800, and 40J carbon and a minimalist matte clear coat over sparse graphics.
Check out the details after the jump.
At first when I saw the green seatpost sticking out like a sore thumb, I wasn’t quite sure about the color, but after checking out the details the head tube brings it all together. Tune components make up most of the cockpit, while the bike is fitted with Di2 9070. The 849 uses a tapered headtube up front.
Pencil thin stays mate to the seat tube that holds a standard 27.2 post. THM Fibula carbon road brakes are left to do the stopping on Xentis Squad 2.5 tubulars.
Built with full internal cable routing that can accommodate both electric and mechanical drivetrains, this bike is running Di2 with a Clavicula M3 carbon crank fitted with Praxis works rings in the frame’s BB86 shell. Olympia 849 frames will be available soon and will run around $3450.
