Supacaz, who we mostly know for shiny oil slick bartape & matching gloves, steps out in 2020 with a new set of premium rainbow carbon road slippers – rumored to grace the feet of ex-World Champ Peter Sagan next season. And they seriously don’t plan to be subtle – these are the flashiest road bike shoes we’ve burned our retinas on. Plus, Supacaz have equally flashy new eMTB pedals to match, and more…

2020 Supacaz carbon road shoes, the flashiest evar!?

It’s hard to really grasp the color of Supacaz’s new road shoes. Technically, the rainbow one is probably ‘oil slick’. And the orange-ish one is probably more ‘sunset’.  But with a color changing synthetic upper, they literally are a different color from every angle, and then a different point on the spectrum again once the light source shifts. (They’re also kinda hard to photograph. All my shots look blown out, but the Boa dials are at least exposed properly.)

But lest we not forget that the brains behind the brand just happens to be Anthony Sinyard, son of Specialized founder Mike Sinyard and a long-time industry insider. That probably never hurts when you are trying to get a brand off the ground, or trying to hook the world’s s most popular cyclist.

But the tech inside of these $420 shoes is there to back up the flashy exterior. (This silver shoe is color #3, with a prismatic rainbow effect!) The new shoes are said to be built on the same construction basis as the latest, lightweight S-Works 7 road shoes. They’re not quite ultralight <99g EXOS, but man do they shine! Oh, and claimed weight is still just 130g.

Supacaz says they enlisted top Nike shoe designers to create the one-piece high-gloss synthetic upper design, that gets adorned with the Supacaz flower, then dialed in for fit with a pair of Boa IP1s.

And that’s not a bad thing. Those S-Works 7 shoes are about as good as any you can buy, so Supacaz sharing that S-Works tech is a big plus. While Sagan might start riding in them even earlier, consumers can expect availability from March 2020.

Supacaz rainbow oil slick eMTB pedals

So, you don’t really need an e-bike to ride them, if you are just looking for improved clearance.

Topping it all off, Supacaz is known for flashy builds and finishing kits. This custom painted, short-travel S-Works Epic is the perfect example, blending flashy paint with some high performance tech.

Hope Supacaz doesn’t use the Specialized “Body Geometry” heel/ankle padding…
