Built with 2mm thick 5052 aluminum sheets, solid aircraft rivets, and laser cut precision, the new Super Pacific Switchback X1 Camper is more than just a rooftop tent.
The X1 is a complete truckbed topper that includes side and rear panel doors, interior storage options, and a hard clamshell rooftop tent. It’s offered in two sizes to fit mid- and full-size pickups from Ford, Dodge, Toyota, GMC, Chevy, Nissan, and Honda. There’s even one for the Jeep Gladiator.
Switchback X1 Interior Details
Standard features include three locking canopy doors, an acrylic cab-side window (you can opt for a rear window, too, for pass-thru visibility), third brake light, and your choice of five powdercoat colors. The tent comes with modular floor panels mattress, zippered and screen doors, mattress, and choice of two fabric colors. Pick it up in Oregon and you’ll save sales tax (assuming you’re not from Oregon) and get free installation, too.
The frame is slotted and has T-track sections so you can attach optional MOLLE boards and other accessories without drilling holes or resorting to zip ties.
Pop the top and remove the tent’s floor boards and it’s in “Living Room” mode, with more than enough room to stand up. All three canopy doors can open and lock from the inside and the outside, too. Close it up from the inside for privacy, then open up for air flow.
Put the floorboards back and you’ve got a queen-sized Exped Megamat self-inflating mattress plus a little room for stuff. Deflate when you close it up for travel, then it’ll quickly reinflate when it’s nap time.
The camper tent’s 4-season cover uses marine-grade fabric with zippered solid and screen doors on the back and both sides.
A dual 12-volt adapter and USB outlets come standard for powering essentials. You know, like an electric kettle for your pour-over coffee ‘gram.
X1 Hardware, Accessories & Pricing
Custom hardware and precision machining keep it solid. They say it’ll outlast your truck, and it’s tough enough to resist the bumps, jolts, and vibrations of offroad overlanding.
Closed, it adds barely 8″ to the vehicle height, so it shouldn’t affect mileage too much. You can also add cross bars for storage on top of it. MSRP is $13,495 for mid-sized trucks and $13,995 for full size.
They offer plenty of accessories, including a new Thermapuff insulation kit for the tent. It has a recycled polyester lining and Climashield synthetic insulation. Kit is $695 and covers the entire interior except the floor.
