Comfort-wise, there’s no more important part of your bike than the seat. Thankfully today there are a number of companies like FI’ZI:K that put serious consideration into creating a selection of saddles so every rider can find something that works for them. FI’ZI:K’s Aliante series saddle has proven to be a favorite of so many riders, including a long list of professional World Tour racers, that it has been on the market for no less than 16 years. Its carefully balanced design seems to agree with a wide cross-section of cyclists, as the company states in their press release;
“It’s blend of great support, power transfer and comfort helps push riders along faster – and further – whether you’re a professional or an enthusiast.”
The Team Edition is based on FI’ZI:K’s Aliante R3 K:IUM model, but comes emblazoned with the colorways of FI’ZI:K’s sponsored race teams. For 2015 the shape has been refined and improved, plus they’ve employed some new technology and materials to make this their lightest Aliante saddle ever.

The Team Edition Aliante’s Microtex covers display the color schemes of FI’ZI:K’s sponsored professional teams- AG2R La Mondiale, BMC Racing team, Cannondale-Garmin, FDJ, Movistar, Orica, GreenEDGE and Team Sky. They also include three pairs of interchangeable scuff guards that come in different team-specific colors, so riders can customize the looks of their saddles with up to nine color combinations.
The Team Edition Aliante’s shell is constructed from a composite fibreglass-nylon using Twin Flex technology and thermo-welding techniques, and it sits atop FI’ZI:K’s K:IUM alloy rails. Exact weight and dimensions have not yet been provided, but the R:3 that serves as the base for the new Team Edition measures 275x140mm and is listed at 220g.
With a supportive rounded tail and slimmer nose, the Team Edition Aliante is best suited for ‘Bull’ riders, according to FI’ZI:K’s Spine concept. The Spine Concept intends to match riders up to the best saddle (and handlebar) for their body type. To find out if you’re a Bull, Snake or a Chameleon, check out the guidelines on FI’ZI:K’s website.
The Team Edition Aliante Saddle sells for $225.
