British bikepacking specialists, Tailfin, have launched their new Bar Cage today. They’re calling it their most accessible and universal front system to date. And by the looks of it, it appears to be a stylish and stable system that is very easy to install.

The new cage would be great for commuting, packing up your coffee outside kit, or a quick S24O (sub-24-hour overnighter). Riding bikes and bringing stuff can be easy with the Bar Cage.

We designed the Bar Cage for people who love their bikes, not just for racing, but for living”, says Nick Broadbent, Founder at Tailfin. “It’s for riders who value simplicity, durability, and design and want their gear to just work without fuss.

CNC Machined

The Bar Cage is CNC-machined from 7075 T-6 and 6061 aluminum, which makes it light, strong, and durable. It can install in minutes and will fit “virtually any bike”. Tailfin also says that it won’t scratch or rattle loose. Typically Taifin, everything features well-thought-out design without afterthought. I would even suggest that some may like the way it looks so much that they keep it on their bike full-time.

The Bar Cage also has a cool feature that allows for the rider to mount their GoPro and GPS to the top of the Cage. This keeps the camera and computer up and out of the way of the stuff being carried with the Cage.

Tailfin is known for designing high-performance “technical Bikepacking Equipment”. The Bar Cage seems to be a bit different than the brand’s regular offerings. While the Bar Cage can easily be added to a fully race-ready Tailfin bikepacking kit, it seems to be better suited for the everyday cyclist. And of course, it is the perfect entry point into the Tailfin ecosystem, if that is your jam.

It wouldn’t be a Tailfin product without dedicated bags… let’s check out the new Dry Bags.

New Dry Bags

Even though the Bar Cage can, quite literally, carry just about anything you want, Tailfin has offered some new “partner bags” that will work seamlessly with the new Bar Cage.

The new bags are dedicated, waterproof dry bags that feature clever TPU Speed Hooks. These hooks perfectly engage with the Bar Cage to keep them in place so you can use both hands to attach the straps. Pretty clever, indeed.

Each Bar Cage Bag features an internal carbon strut. This strut helps to further enhance stability of the bag’s total structure. There are three bag options available. The diameters are 135, 160, and 180mm, with volumes of 8, 11, and 15 liters, respectively.

These options will allow the rider to customize their storage capacity, ensuring that they have the exact amount they need. The bags feature double rolltop closures, making it easy to get in and out of the bags from either end. And they are made with Tailfin’s Hypalon, and Ripstop nylon fabrics that are welded and not sewn.
