For those who follow Phil Gaimon, State’s newest bike isn’t much of a secret. But, today marks the day that their new aero-road platform is officially available. As expected, the frame is full-featured, respectably light, and aggressively priced.

The new State Road frameset utilizes internal cable routing for a clean look. The frame can accommodate tires up to 32mm wide, allowing for modern tire fitment while keeping things focused on the road. And the new aero shape will cut through the wind, providing aero tech to the masses.

Mehdi Farsi, Co-Founder of State Bicycle Co., had this to say about the new frameset,
“With this Carbon Road, we’re trying to blur the lines between ‘entry level’ and real performance. Phil joked that he thinks Tadej could win the Tour on this frame, and that’s exactly the point.
This bike wouldn’t be out of place, built with SRAM Rival as a killer ‘starter’ carbon road bike, and then you look up, and you’ve got our sponsored guys building the same frameset with SRAM Red or Shimano Dura-Ace and going out there setting records. We want to cast a wide net with this one…let more people experience what it feels like to own a really nice road bike. At the end of the day, State has always made the stuff that gets me and our team genuinely excited to ride, and this is no different.” – Mehdi Farsi, Co-Founder of State Bicycle Co.

Modern Amenities

State Bikes focused on building the frameset with long-term ownership in mind, while still keeping it futureproof. They’ve incorporated a T47 threaded bottom bracket standard, with Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) compatibility.

These choices make future maintenance and component upgrades more straightforward. They do this while maintaining their famous accessible pricing structure along with their standard support and warranty coverage.

For this release, the State Road frameset will be limited to just a frameset. There are complete bikes planned for launch later this spring. The timing coincides with State Bicycle’s partnership with former pro cyclist Phil Gaimon.

Phil has recently set a new Strava record on Mauna Kea using the State Road platform. The Mauna Kea climb is widely recognized as one of the most challenging segments on the platform, making it a notable testing ground for the frameset’s capabilities.
