Is riding the Great Divide on your bucket list? Perhaps the entirety of the Pacific Coast is more your speed? Now imagine riding either epic adventure with new and prototype Blackburn gear, a Niner bike with the best componentry from SRAM, Rockshox, and Zipp, Giro Apparel and shoes, a Bell helmet, and a travel stipend to help along the way? Sounds too good to be true, right?

Well, it’s real – assuming you are selected to be a 2015 Blackburn Ranger. The company is currently seeking 6 new Rangers for 2015 to be Blackburn ambassadors to take part in their “Out There” adventure program. Those selected will be required to ride either the Pacific Coast or Great Divide routes, as well as taking part in the 2015 Blackburn Ranger Camp. The right candidates will have an insatiable appetite for big miles on a bicycle balanced with social media savvy and the ability to provide product feedback for Blackburn testing.

More details after the break….

So you think you have what it takes? Start by Informing Blackburn through the application page on their site. This is also where you can upload the URL for the Youtube video you’re going to have to make that showcases who you are, and what you do that makes you stand out from the peloton. Make sure to tag the video with #beablackburnranger2015 – you do know what hashtags are, right? Finally, Instagram a pic with #beablackburnranger2015 and get as many friends and family to like it.

Check out the Blackburn site for previous videos and current Ranger profiles to get inspired. You may want to look up the routes as well – 1,852 miles of Coast, or 2,740 miles of the Divide are no joke…

Ah yes. Sign up for the chance to be a sellout! You, too, can be part of a group that is helping some big-name company with Chinese manufacturing jump on this sudden bikepacking bandwagon! Revelate, Porcelain Rocket, Bedrock Bags, et al, with their US-made, incredibly high-quality gear, couldn’t possibly be worth a few extra bucks to keep manufacturing in the USA. And it certainly isn’t as if those fine manufacturers are bikepackers themselves – I hear they’re all just roadies that somehow stumbled upon the absolute best designs for mountain touring!

Be warned, as part of this elite group of Rangers, you may experience shoddy gear with poor design and even worse QC. But remember, the “engineers” know exactly what they’re doing – you’re just for cool photos and Instagram cred!

Suddenly bikepacking is the new enduro. Shoot me now.
