The nomination process for The Times Sportswoman of the year is drawing to a close, but as BikeBiz.com notes, downhill rider Rachel Atherton is a glaring omission from the list, which includes Nicole Cook (Olympic Gold, Road Race), Victoria Pendleton (’07 winner; Olympic Gold, Sprint) and Rebecca Romero (Olympic Gold, 3000m Individual Pursuit).

The rest of contenders list can be found here, but it’s not too late to nominate others.

The awards will be handed out at Lord’s Cricket Ground on February 12th.

Rachel Atherton’s achievements for 2008 should surely get her on the list. These were:

– 2008 World Cup Champion – Winning by an astonishing 11.99 seconds
– Four World Cup Wins – Andorra, Canada (x2) and Austria
