Titici has a new premium steel gravel bike in the works and they are teasing it with this super limited Sterrato GRX LE build featuring Shimano’s sought-after silver gravel groupset. Just 12 of the handmade Italian steel gravel bike are being made, with unique custom-painted graphics by street artist Luca Di Maggio…

Titici Sterrato premium steel gravel bike

Already this year Titici has updated their new aluminum All-In AND gravel bike with a unique silver anodized finish that makes it look like fillet brazed steel. And then added a completely new carbon Relli with the flattest top tube you’ll ever find on a gravel bike. And now this steel Sterrato joins in with their signature flattened Plate Absorber Tech (PAT) top tube for extra comfort and fully integrated internal cable routing.

The Titici Sterrato is a handmade steel gravel bike made entirely in Italy from a premium Columbus Life tube set engineered exclusively for Titici, including their flattened PAT toptube to help filter out vibration while maintaining lateral stiffness. They call it a bike with “vintage character, featuring modern and sophisticated details”.

In addition to flat mount disc brakes only, thru-axles, and a full carbon fork (with or without bikepacking mounts on each leg), it also gets an oversized 1.5″ headtube to fit in completely hidden internal cable routing – for mechanical or electronic shifting, 1 or 2x.

The Sterrato sticks with a round 27.2mm seatpost, and has pretty tight 700c x 40mm tire clearance, but appears to use a PressFit (BB386?) bottom bracket.

Curiously, this limited edition build is fitted with a PRO dropper, but the bikes generally do NOT have cable routing for an internal dropper post. This particular build has a 3-pack of cage mounts on the downtube, 2 on the seattube, rear rack mount, and full-coverage front & rear fender tabs. But you can also add more cage mounts under the downtube or on top of the toptube for no extra charge.

Only 12 of these special limited edition Titici Sterrato GRX LE gravel bikes are being made – each with individually hand-painted graphics by Milan, Italy street artist Luca Di Maggio, himself a gravel rider.

Each bike will have a fork painted in a different scheme focusing on cultural stylistic features of different countries – along the unifying concept motto of “Ride Titici around the world”. This first Limited Edition bike’s inspiration was Japan, lending the design imagery of Mount Fuji, the Rising Sun, a bonsai and lotus flower in classic red against a white background.

Titici took the bike to ‘flowering lakes’ of Parco Giardino Sigurtà in Valeggio sul Mincio, Verona to photograph it surrounded by water lilies under Japanese maples for the full stylistic effect.

With the custom look, you will also get a complete Shimano GRX Silver gravel groupset – also a rare find – in your choice of 1×11 or 2×11 setup. The Sterrato GRX LE bikes officially do not go on sale until October when Shimano releases the groupsets in Italy, and when Titici unveils the remaining 11 country themes. But we suspect if you really want one, you should reach out to your nearest Titici dealer bike shop ASAP.

No word on pricing yet, either for this limited edition or the standard steel Titici Sterrato gravel bike once it becomes available later this autumn.

GRX 1x left lever, that DOESNT actuate dropper? Bummer town.

The problem is that the GRX lever (and the SRAM mechanical hack with the ratchet) require the shifter cable’s fob/end to be in the lever, not on the base of the dropper (e.g. the clipped/crimped end needs to be on the dropper side of the routing). Ironically, Shimano’s own PRO post doesn’t work this way, so their own post won’t work with their own lever, which is really silly.

The number of offerings in the 27.2 size that work with a shifter is relatively small, sadly. I had to use a KS LEV 27.2, which has been flawless over the years in this role, but it is still kind of a bummer.
