Urwahn’s limited edition Acros EDT was the first to take their uniquely designed & built frame onto gravel – taking advantage of the inherent vibration-damping feel of the Softride steel frame without a seattube connection between the seat & chainstays. Now the pair of regular bike & e-bike Waldwiesels should make it easier to get ahold of a gravel Urwahn.

The secret of all of the Urwahn bikes is their flexible manufacturing process, using 3D-printed steel lugs, welded to conventional steel tubing, then neatly ground smooth for a monocoque look that seems more akin to carbon frames than steel ones. Functionally, the new Waldwiesel is no different than the Acros Edition.

The Waldwiesel just becomes Urwahn’s standard production gravel bike.

While the limited edition build offered the option of a Lauf suspension fork, the Waldwiesels come standard with Urwahn’s own aluminum CT1-FK1 fork featuring internal brake routing, external rack & fender mounts, flat mount brake, and 12mm thru-axle. Both frame & fork are built for fast gravel, with clearance for 700 x 40mm tires. Riders looking for a bit more, could conceivably opt for an aftermarket carbon gravel fork.

The 1x-only frame is belt drive ready with a seatstay break, and features BB386EVO/BSA threaded/eccentric bottom bracket options for singlespeed or geared hub builds. It also gets a 12mm thru-axles with a modular dropout, flat mount disc brakes, a 27.2mm seatpost, and fully internal cable routing through an Acros ICR headset.

The Waldwiesel comes in two core builds – the ‘bio-bike’ version and a Waldwiesel.E e-bike. The standard bio Waldwiesel starts at 4500€ complete with a Shimano GRX 600 1x 11sp build, and weights from around 10.9kg.

The pedal-assist Waldwiesel.E e-bike starts at 5500€ adding in a Mahle ebikemotion 250W rear hub motor supported by a slim 250Wh battery hidden inside the downtube (~80km support range), all on top of the same GRX 600 1×11 drivetrain at a complete weight of 14.8kg.

Urwahn offers both bikes in the same five stock sizes (XS-XL) and each bike is made-to-order, with plenty of opportunity for final build customization & add-ons, like finishing options from nickel-plating to powdercoat painting, plus integrated lighting & GPS trackers.

All production from lugs to tube welding to finishing, coating & assembly are completed entirely in Germany, giving Urwahn relatively low production times, and total control over the process. Current delivery times are quoted at 2-3 months.
