Meet The Updated Mosaic Cycles GT-1 iAR Titanium All-Road Bike

Known for both steel and titanium beauties, building handmade titanium bicycles is Mosaic Cycles’ preference. Over the years, the company has introduced several models for road, gravel, and MTB. Now, the Boulder, Colorado builder announces a newly updated GT-1 in the GT-1 iAR Titanium All-Road bike.

This new iAR includes updated internal cable routing and increased, high-volume tire clearance. The GT-1 iAR utilizes an ENVE In-Route cockpit, and as a result, boasts a generous 40mm tire clearance but still keeps the legendary handling characteristics that Mosiac is known for.

As an All-Road bike, the GT-1 iAR has frame geometry that swings a little closer to a road bike. So, with the short-ish 425mm chainstay and the steeper head tube angle, it reads more like a road bike than a typical gravel bike setup. This allows the bike to deliver a fast, stable, and responsive ride with the added versatility of bigger tire clearance.

This new rig features a Mosiac double-butted titanium tube set. This tube set is specifically picked out for each rider and features the Mosaic’s “Made-To-Order” geometry. Creating a GT-1 iAR that fits each rider’s specific requirements, and handling preferences, is what Moaic’s Made-To-Order is all about.

Putting the GT-1 iAR Through its Paces

Above Catagory’s founder, Chad Nordwall has been putting the GT-1 iAR to the test. He’s been finding reasons to get out and log some big winter miles. “When I started this project, what I wanted was a purpose-built winter rain bike to put big road tires and fenders on for riding in inclement weather,” Nordwall says.

He continues, “However, after building up my GT-1 iAR and taking it for a short shakeout ride I can already tell that this bike is going to be right at the front of the garage to be taken out on all my biggest rides. That being said, I’m still going to beat on it all winter.

GT-1 iAR Retail and Frame Features

Retail: $ 8,300 for the Frameset Module: (frame, fork, ENVE Integrated Stem, ENVE seatpost, and ENVE Integrated Headset)

*As with any Made-To-Order 1- Level Moaic frameset, the GT-1 iAR is available exclusively through a Mosaic Dealer. It carries a 6-8 week lead time.

That is lovely. Price actually isn’t that strong vs other high end titanium manufacturers such as Moots. It is well thought through, well built and should look just as good in 20 years time. Personally I love what Mosaic are doing right now.

The only strange thing for me is why paint titanium (particularly an off road bike)? Furthermore, if you are going to paint it, why paint it a titanium colour?! Mosaic have some really striking and bold colours in their colourchart that would maybe better suit a press launch bike.

Price is a joke. You can get a fully custom Bingham for nearly $3K less. Fully custom. Price is laughable.

Wow, 8K Titanium Mosiac frame to be used as a rainy day, fender beater. I better move to Boulder and up my game.

It’s just rebadged Dean with fancier paint. $8K for a stock non-custim ti frameset and a stem and seatpost? Hahahahaha

That fork crown/lower headset cup gap sure doesn’t look like $8,300.

Funny, this was my complaint as well…. I think lots of other manufacturers have made big strides in making that area look better. Maybe this is intentionally Old School?

To be fair, that’s an Enve issue rather than Mosaic.

Neither does the CK aeroset upper and Enve stem combo. Maybe that works on a curvy carbon bike, but it looks out of place on a bike with straight lines. Lovely frame otherwise, but for the price, I’d like a titanium post and stem.

Agree. The upper headset and stem look “bulbous” on top of that headtube and out of proportion

For the price get custom. Heck, you can get a full custom Bingham for $3K less. Why pay $3K more for a stock frame set with no customization?????? Bwahahahaha

I’d pay less and get a custom made Firefly. Those bikes are far better looking. Mosaic is kind of an also ran brand. Nice bike but no one dreams of a mosaic.

Same with DeSalvo, Bingham and numerous other to makers, who would give you full custom for several thousand dollars less. Bat sheot crazy pricing. Hahaha

The majority of these comments are honestly hilarious. After owning 4 Mosaic’s and probably 15 Moots, Several IF’s, 4 Seven’s, half dozen Merlin’s, Titus etc etc I can without a single hesitation confirm that the Mosaic’s are my favourite Ti bikes of all of them and the only ones that I still own. Their efforts are getting nicer and nicer, more modern details, geometry, tire clearance etc. If the pricepoint is an issue, you can significantly decrease your spend by going to their non-butted tubesets (GT-2 etc). If that is still out of reach then maybe you should focus on Litespeed, Motobecane, Lynskey and Habanero.
