A few weeks back we gave you the first ever look at Manitou’s forthcoming 2011 R7, which should tip in just under 3lbs, and now we’ve talked the guys over at HBG into giving up some specs before Interbike. In case you were wondering, here’s what’s on tap for the MRD version:

The naming heirarchy, BTW, indicates the 7th edition, hence R7. Yes, this is pretty much a complete overhaul of the fork’s exterior, making it lighter with better torsional stiffness, but this version will still have the “big in Europe” 30mm stanchions. Look for the Marvel (which is what the R7 will become rather than R8) to move up to now-standard 32mm stanchions in the not too distant future, but it’ll have an entirely different look to it.
