UPS has started delivering packages on 45 routes in Northern California, saving them in the neighborhood of $50,000 in fuel and maintenance (and likely more in health care costs over time).

Now, we’ll just have to see if CA comes up with a “special delivery” tax since they’re not getting their revenue from all that saved fuel. It certainly wouldn’t be the most ridiculous thing they’ve done to keep from going totally broke.
