VanDOit, the custom camper van outfitter that focuses exclusively on Ford Transit passenger vans, has been busy updating more than their vans lately. With a new website, a new Adventur’r newsletter, and owner service bulletins, potential and existing customers now have more information at hand than ever to guide their customizations.

They’ve also announced their first social benefit initiative, a one-for-one Buffalo Bike donation through World Bicycle Relief for every van sold. For anyone looking into the #Vanlife, here’s what to expect…

For the future van owner…

WEBSITE: VanDOit’s original website wasn’t much to brag about, the new version not only looks better, but presents the images and info in a more coherent manner. Both their LIV and DO models are explained better, helping you choose between the two layouts.

NEWSLETTER: Their new Adventur’r email newsletter will showcase recent builds, new features and accessories, plus general Vanlife and outdoor living and adventure tips.

SOCIAL IMPACT: World Bicycle Relief provides underserved communities, primarily in Africa, by providing durable Buffalo Bikes to improve transportation options. Often, these make trips to hospitals, work and school possible, as well as business opportunities for recipients.

They also provide bicycle maintenance training and other skills lessons to help people improve their own lives through the power of the bicycle. Check out our interview with their founder for more of their story. VanDOit has pledged to donate one bike for every van sold, which (by our guesstimate) should mean close to 100 or more bikes every year.

For the current van owner…

Technical Support Bulletins: One of the biggest frustrations is when something goes wrong, but this is where Vandoit separates itself from the one-off, full custom van builders. First, their designs are all modular, and it’s all built about 70% the same for every van. This lets them use assembly line manufacturing with consistent results. And all electronics run into a centralized control system that uses lights to tell you what’s going on.

Now, they’ve started sending out technical update bulletins to all owners, keeping them apprised of new developments, any bugs or known issues, along with solutions and support. Let’s be real, if you’ve ever owned an RV or camper van, things go wrong…kudos to VanDOit for staying on top of it and keeping its owners (which includes Bikerumor) abreast of what they’re working on.
