Working with the Santa Cruz htSQD gravel and XC racing team earlier this year, Velocio developed a custom race-day skinsuit for the athletes to give them every advantage while chasing podiums. While that skinsuit is not available to the public, Velocio has incorporated some of the skinsuit’s design and technology into their new special edition htSQD jersey collection.

The new htSQD collection includes men’s and women’s models of the CONCEPT Jersey (gravel) and the Ultralight TRAIL Jersey (MTB). Velocio’s goal is to constantly chase functional updates to their clothing based directly on their athletes’ wants and needs. From gathering feedback to hosting personal fitting sessions, Velocio strives to give their riders every competitive edge they can get from their gear.

htSQD CONCEPT Jersey: $199

The CONCEPT is Velocio’s top-end race day jersey, designed to be very aerodynamic and to excel through high-output rides. It is constructed from an extremely lightweight and breathable polyester/elastane blend, and offers a skinsuit-like compression fit.

This jersey features single-panel construction on the chest, shoulders, and upper back, eliminating unnecessary seams. The CONCEPT jerseys include full-length front zippers and reinforced back pockets to hold your cargo securely.

The special edition htSQD jersey features the Dark Marble pattern used on the team’s exclusive skinsuits. Men’s sizes range from XS-4XL, and women’s sizes XXS-3XL are available. For a matching kit, pair this jersey with Velocio’s CONCEPT Bib Short.

htSQD Ultralight TRAIL Jersey: $79

Velocio’s lightest and most versatile MTB jersey, the Ultralight TRAIL jersey is constructed from a lightweight opaque mesh that wicks moisture exceptionally well. Made from a polyester/elastane blend, these jerseys include 88% recycled polyester derived from plastic waste pulled from the ocean.

The Ultralight TRAIL Jersey offers a relaxed fit and a round lay-flat collar. Articulated shoulders ensure free movement, while an extended hem provides full coverage in the riding position. The special edition jerseys boast the htSQD’s unique Dark Marble pattern.

The htSQD Ultralight TRAIL jersey is available in men’s and women’s sizes XS-2XL. Velocio’s Ultralight TRAIL short matches the jersey for a complete kit.

The Concept jersey looks great but I have a hard time accepting a $200 price tag for a jersey when companies like The Black Bibs and Neo Pro are out there selling jerseys for $75.

To each their own of course, for many, $200 isn’t a lot of money to spend on anything. For others, it’s out of reach.

I can’t speak to Neo Pro specifically, but I’ve purchased products from The Black Bibs and have been impressed with their quality and price point. I find no evidence of them being an Aliexpress rebrand and to my knowledge, they are based in the US and making their products in the US. Happy to be corrected if I’m wrong though so feel free to share any sources you have that support your claim.
