Very Milanese, this is.
Moncler Gamme Bleu used the legendary Vigorelli Velodrome as a backdrop to the runway (perhaps we need to find a new word) show unveiling its 2011 collection.
The velodrome, redolent of the history of track racing, is in a pretty poor state, so unfortunately using the boards was not an option.
Some gripes: it’s a pity the models weren’t riding track bikes – we might have seen a few good crashes; and I’d much rather see the velodrome restored to its original use rather than having models strut around it.
Nevertheless, who am I to tell the Italians about cycling heritage? And I do like the vintage footage in the background, plus the clothes, while poncy, are not quite as bad as they might be. What do you think?
