Vision is bringing WorldTour-worthy tech to everyday riders with the launch of the all-new SC 45 SL and SC 60 SL carbon wheels. Dubbed the “Smart Choice” lineup, these wheels look to deliver solid performance at a price tag that punches well below its class.

With over 15 years of experience supporting World Tour and Continental Pro teams, Vision knows a thing or two about what makes a race wheel fast. And now, that know-how is trickling down in a big way.

The SC 45 SL and SC 60 SL are the latest evolution of Vision’s Service Course (SC) line—reworked from the hub shell out. At the core is Vision’s new V-600 hub, featuring a 54-tooth Power Ratchet System (PRS) for faster engagement and smooth power transfer. It features the same internals found in Vision’s top-tier Metron wheels, now available at a more affordable price.

The forged shell and oversized helical ratchet are designed for strength, durability, and minimal drag. It’s similar to the driver used on the FSA mountain bike wheels.

Internal parts are precision-machined using a power skiving process to achieve tight tolerances, and the entire hub is sealed to ensure reliable operation between 14°F and 140°F (-10°C and +60°C).

The PRS hub is available in both straight-pull and J-bend configurations, meaning riders can spec these wheels to match their frame or drivetrain preference (Shimano, SRAM XDR, or Microspline).

Each V-600 hub features a QR code laser-etched on the shell, linking directly to an online spare parts manual. Additionally, Vision’s global support network comprises four headquarters and 40 service centers across the United States, Europe, Asia, and China.

Why. You can buy 1300g wheels from a DTC Chinese brand for less money and they’ll be just as fast. Sometimes faster. It’s INSANE to keep pitching these Western brands that get their parts from China anyway, and make some claim that they’re priced at a decent price. They’re not. They’re $400 too expensive and still heavier.

I have not yet talked to even a single person that regrets their DTC purchase from a brand like 9Velo, Winspace, Yoeleo or EliteWheels.

Also, ‘underload’ should probably be two words. 🙂

Maybe other folks have different preferences than you? I know that’s a weird concept. Of course it goes without saying that if something is made in China it must be exactly the same as other things made in China! it can’t be any other way, right? No doubt, though, your preferences and justifications are the benchmark for everyone else. We should all endeavor to kill off all non-Chinese bike companies so that from now on, no one will pay more for a product than what you’ve deemed acceptable.

Thank you for your service to cyclists all over the world.

Yeah, I don’t mind that other people have different preferences than me, what I object to is that these pieces are just marketing copy from the companies themselves. There’s no editorial oversight, it’s just a company claiming that their objectively heavier and objectively more expensive wheels are somehow better for <waves hands> REASONS.

These are supposed to be ‘value’ wheels, and yet are explicitly MUCH WORSE VALUE than many of the other things that are available at Eurobike. So why are we seeing coverage of this rather than anything else?

Look, if Vision wants to promote expensive wheels that are somehow faster and better, I’m actually all about that. Innovate. Show us something cool. But don’t tell me that your heavy expensive wheels are somehow a good value. It’s just factually, objectively incorrect.

Worse value? Please explain. Much better than Enve, Zipp, etc. for less. I own a pair of Vision Metron 55 SLs, and wouldn’t trade them for any Light Bicycle or whatever PRC direct-to-consumer wheel that’s out there. Also, Vision wheels are usually heavier due to using brass spoke nipples and sturdier layups. They’re pretty bomb-proof.

Oh, and FSA/Vision is a Taiwanese brand, so that whole comment about “western companies” is incorrect.

You realize, don’t you, that “worse value” is a subjective qualification, not an objective one, not a fact. Likewise, “better” is subjective. So, what you’re doing is putting forth your opinions as facts. If you don’t like a given brand’s products or marketing, don’t buy from them, but your preferences are only superior for you, not necessarily anyone else. What you consider to be a good value is really irrelevant to others deciding what they think a good value is for them.

Kind of a tortured metaphor, there.

If the rims and hub geometries are the same as RS wheels, then these are indeed very good values. The 45 SL are stiff and accelerates very well despite the out-of-fashion 1.4kg weight with metal spokes. My Light Bicycle AR45 are lighter but not as stiff and don’t pick up speed like 45 SL.

Anyone notice that the SC 60 SL are only 20g heavier than the older 60 SL? Go figure in r2-bike.com for actual measured weight.
