Yaaay!  We’re famous!
Heck, we’re not quite a year old (July will be our one year anniversary, if you’re keeping track) and already we got our first bit of printed press in Mountain Bike Magazine.  Big thanks to Mike Cushionbury for making Bikerumor.com their featured “Other Media” for the quarter.  Here’s what they had to say:
‘While it may seem a stretch to go from running an energy drink company to founding your own online cycling gossip site, for Tyler Benedict it was another way to avoid having to get a real job.  In 2002 Benedict started BURN energy drinks, but the competition proved too fierce and BURN didn’t stand the test of time.  Deciding to put his journalism degree to use, Benedict launched Bikerumor.com.
“I’m a big fan of the content style and layout of Engadget.com and thought I could make something like that work for the cycling crowd,” he said. “For me it’s a way to learn more about other companies and meet interesteding people, and hopefully I can tell their stories in a compelling way.” Bikerumor mixes press releases, news, gossip, product tests, interviews and a doese of humor into a timely webpage that’s fun tot read.  it also just added an official Bikerumor podcast.  Benedict claims his site traffic is growing and says that although now it’s a side project (he does marketing, consulting and brand development for other companies to pay the bills), his goal is to make it a full-time gig.’
We highly recommend you pick up the June issue of Mountain Bike Magazine, a fine publication, at your local bike shop or newsstand.
