bikerumor falling uphill book adventures on a bicycle around the world scott stoll

Interested in traveling the world by bike but don’t have the money/time/gumption? Why not read about it in Scott Stoll’s book “Falling Uphill”. After losing his job, his best friend, and his girlfriend all in one week he decides to do a little soul searching and takes a journey around the world on a bicycle. While we haven’t read it (and aren’t endorsing it, just calling your attention to it!) the list of things that happen to Scott on his trip sure make it sound like an interesting read. Here are a few things that happen to Scott on his trip (!):

  • Thrown in Zimbabwe prison.
  • Head-on collision with a motorcycle in northern Vietnam
  • Caught in an African elephant stampede
  • Dying of dehydration in the 120° Baja desert
  • Mugged and beaten by armed robbers in Guatemala
  • Held hostage in the Tomb of the Engineer in Giza, Cairo
  • Visit the Wonders of the World: Machu Picchu, Victoria Falls, Pyramids of Egypt, the Parthenon, Uluru, and more
  • Climbing to Mt. Everest Base Camp on a bicycle
  • Interrogated as a suspected terrorist in Israel
  • Threatened by poachers and a witch doctor with a magic crocodile.
    And more….
  • Scott’s number one reason why you should read this book?

“It actually happened. The adventures are real, not fantasy; the lessons learned and moments of enlightenment are real-life experiences, not theory or rumors or cut-and-paste from another book.”

I have to say…this book is outstanding. I’ve passed it on to fellow cyclists after I read it this summer, and they’ve all raved about it.
