Whyte Bikes has two new mountain bikes for smaller, lighter riders looking to upgrade their experience and keep up with the bigger kids. Fully featured and built just like their full-size counterparts, these are scaled down, not watered down. Here’s what’s on offer…

Whyte Secta 26 Hardtail Trail Bike

The new Whyte Secta 26 hardtail delivers a lighter, better bike for riders who don’t need the added complexity or weight of a full-suss.. trail capability to youth riders ready to step up their skills. Based on our proven hardtail platform, it’s built around geometry and components scaled for smaller, lighter riders.

Key specs:

  • Frame: Custom-butted 6061-T6 alloy, dropper-ready, internal routing
  • Fork: 100 mm Suntour XCM Air — tunable spring rate, rebound, and lock-out
  • Wheels: 26 in, reduced spoke count, trail rims with Vee Crown Gem tyres
  • Drivetrain: Shimano 1×9 (30 T × 11–36 T) — wide range, reliable shifting
  • Brakes: Tektro HD-M275 hydraulic discs, 160 mm rotors front and rear
  • Contact Points: Youth-specific grips, saddle, and 152 mm crank length
  • Colours: Two options – Aqua with coral orange & purple with yellow
  • One size
  • RRP: £649

The Secta 26 gives developing riders proper trail geometry, a balanced wheelbase, and a frame built around real-world off-road handling. It comes with an air-sprung fork to save weight, and is dropper post-ready, but sticks with quick-release dropouts, limiting ultimate upgradeability.

Whyte T-140 27 Full Suspension Trail Bike

The Whyte T-140 27 takes their adult-sized trail bike and scales it down for younger riders seeking proper full-suspension performance. With 140mm forks, 135mm rear travel, and faster-rolling 27.5″ wheels, it’s built to keep up and (let’s be real) probably surpass their parents on the singletrack and bike-park.

Key Specs:

  • Frame: 6061 T6 SCR alloy chassis with geometry adjust, Boost 148 spacing, and ISCG-05 guide mounts
  • Fork: RockShox Pike 27.5 – 140 mm travel, air spring, fully adjustable
  • Shock: RockShox Deluxe Select+ RT, tuned for lighter riders
  • Drivetrain: Shimano Deore 1×11 (32 T × 11–51 T) – wide range, crisp shifting
  • Brakes: TRP Slate Evo 4-piston hydraulic discs – 180 mm rotors
  • Wheels: 27.5 in WTB ST i30 rims, Boost hubs, tubeless ready
  • Tyres: Maxxis trail combo – grippy front, fast-rolling rear
  • Dropper: KS 900i post with remote, size-specific drop
  • Contact points: Youth-proportion bar, stem, grips, and 155 mm crank length
  • Colours: Option 1 – Green. Option 2 – metallic purple.
  • Sizes: Extra small, small
  • RRP: £1,799

The T-140 27 delivers the same suspension kinematics, geometry balance, and component spec as their adult bikes — just tuned for lighter riders. Meaning, it’s completely ideal for shorter, smaller adults, too.
