Wolf Tooth Components are now able to cater to Specialized mountain bike riders with their new IS Premium Headset for 42mm upper bearing diameters. Riders of almost all Specialized aluminium frame MTBs can now benefit from the upgrade, as can riders of a handful of their carbon frames such as the new Stumpjumper.
Wolf Tooth IS Premium Headsets for Specialized
Wolf Tooth’s original IS42 headset isn’t quite compatible with Specialized frames due to their molded-in internal bearing cups. However, the Minnesotan component manufacturer has now remedied that. Their latest product is a new line of IS Premium headsets specifically for Specialized mountain bike frames, featuring the same quality Enduro bearings we see across the range. And, it comes with a lifetime warranty.
Fun fact: This is the only aftermarket headset option for Specialized bikes that is available in multiple colors. So, if you want to bling up your cockpit with a bit of anodized machined aluminium, you’ll have to spend your hard earned cash with Wolf Tooth.

All Wolf Tooth Components’ headsets are made with strong, lightweight, aircraft-grade aluminum. While the Premium Headsets use a stainless steel Enduro bearing, the cheaper Performance Headsets use a black oxide bearing that comes with a one-year warranty. All get a triple-sealed system to protect the bearings from grime.

Pricing & Availability
The Wolf Tooth Components IS Premium Upper Headset for Specialized frames retails at £58 and is available in eight anodized colors. Upper headsets ship with a star nut which can only be used on forks with steel or aluminum steerer tubes. For forks with carbon steerer tubes, you will need a compression plug (sold separately).
