The advanced geometry of the longer and slacker 2020 Carbon Jeffsy is now on offer in the form of the YT Jeffsy 2020 Aluminium Base model. The updated geometry comes after the success seen by the carbon frame, allowing riders who prefer to ride metal to experience the full benefits of the more progressive ride. The slacker head angle, longer reach and lower front end should give riders a comfortably aggressive position on technical descents while the steep seat tube angle should improve pedalling efficiency and climbing characteristics. It’s not just the geo and frame material that is new, the YT Jeffsy 2020 also gets two new colorways, Black Magic and Two Tone Blue. Let’s take a look.
YT Jeffsy 2020 Aluminium All-Mountain Bike
As with the Carbon model, the 2020 aluminium Jeffsy is available in both 27.5″ and 29″ wheel size versions, with the size range increasing at the top end with S-XXL now on offer. Both the 27.5″ and 29er Base models are specced with a RockShox Yari RC with 160mm and 150mm travel, respectively, a 10mm increase on the previous iteration.
The back end of the YT Jeffsy 2020 gets 150mm rear wheel travel on the 29er, while the 27.5″ frame offers a little more at 160mm, while both suspension platforms are serviced by the RockShox Deluxe Select shock. The geometry of both frames can be adjusted via a Flip Chip, which drops the BB by 8mm and results in a 0.5° slacker head and seat tube angle. Reach values stretch from 422-522mm on the 27.5″ frame, while the reach values are a little longer on the 29er frame, ranging from 430mm on the Small to 510mm on the XXL.
The claimed weight of the base model is 15.2 kgs (size L), specced with SRAM’s SX 12-speed Eagle Drivetrain, SRAM Guide T brakes, and a DT SWISS M 1900 Spline Wheelset fitted with Minion DHRII tyres, front and back.
The frame itself will fit a 600ml FIDLOCK water bottle. YT say they have ensured that maintenance and servicing of the aluminium Jeffsy have become easier, thanks to the ‘single sided hardware access’ enabling the suspension linkage and rear triangle hardware to be installed and removed from the same side. In addition, the ‘race-specific advanced sealing concept’ and ‘axial-lip-seal’ aim to prolong its service life thanks to additional seals that protect the double-sealed full complement bearings and keep water and dirt at bay.

As is usual for YT, the new aluminium YT Jeffsy 2020 is really good value, coming in at just £1,999. The Two Tone Blue is in stock now, while the Black Magic colorway is available to order, but won’t be ready to go until 5th Feb, 2020.
