Zipp has some new gravel tires to check out. Only, they’re not quite new – except for the logo. Originally called the Tangente Course G40, Zipp’s gravel tires join their gravel-oriented handlebars in XPLR family.
Other than the XPLR G40 name, these are the same tires that Tyler checked out early last year. Offered in a single 700c x 40mm size, the tires are tubeless ready but are also tube compatible. They’re also hookless compatible, which is important since Zipp’s newest wheels are hookless – and quite wide.
The tires look great with a tan sidewall, and the new graphics better match those of the newer Zipp wheels. Weighing in at 480g a piece, the tires sell for $65 a pop. More importantly, with Zipp adding more products to the XPLR line, it makes us think more products are probably in the works to build out a modern gravel bike.
