Automotive branded bicycles are nothing new.  BMW, Range Rover, Audi, VW, and McLaren are now joined by MINI.

The design team over at BMW saw the need to work up a MINI branded folding bike to accent the purchase of your MINI Cooper.  The bike appears to be manufactured by Dahon, as the bike is specced with a Dahon Slipstream aluminum fork.  It does sport the MINI logo in silver, has a matte black finish, and a Union Jack motif on the seat stays.  Driving the rear wheel is a teflon coated Taya chain, the likes of which we have on test right now.

Even if you don’t own a MINI, the MINI branded folder will be available as a stand alone purchase for $499 Euro in August 2011 from select MINI dealers, or online at www.MINI.de/shop

Mini did a campaign in the past with Montague folding bikes. I kind of liked those better since they use a larger wheel and look/feel like a normal bike. I’ve ridden small wheel folders before and its like a clown bike. Montague is still making bikes, you can see them at http://www.montaguebikes.com/
