It may not seem like much, but when you’re paying for high end componentry the option for some color is a nice touch. 3T has been going through a rebranding process that differentiates their mountain line from the road – mountain gets a triangle, road gets a circle. As part of their new custom color program for the LTD cockpit, the road icon gets a new coat of paint in one of 6 bright colors.

Available directly from 3T, you can choose to run matching bars, stem, and post, or mix it up and go wild. Whatever you choose, you’ll get in on a couple free bonus goods from 3T if you order soon…

Fans of Skittles inspired colors will be able to choose between the 3T ARX LTD, Ergonova LTD, and Ionic 25 LTD which are all sold separately. Each component will include either a blue, green, light blue, orange, pink, or yellow embellishment from an Italian finishing specialist all covered in 3T’s high gloss finish.

While the colors look great, they do come with a bit of a price. It just so happens that the smallest part has the biggest price increase with the Custom Color stem going for $375 while the standard LTD stem sells for $325. The Custom color bar sells for $425 (the same price as the stealth LTD version) compared to the LTD’s $400, and finally the Custom Color post will fetch $300 as you can pick up an LTD post for $270.

However, if you get in on the special offer from 3T on their web store you’ll score a free 3T phone bag and Race Bag. It won’t make them any cheaper, but it may help with the justification.

It may not seem like much…… best line in the whole piece. Not really custom just a wider choice really. Is the sign 3T have run out of new product ideas?

Anyone who can afford 3t LTD parts can afford a paint from a custom painter and many custom bike builder offer this possibility. It would have more chance to match the frame than this timid effort.

I sure love paying extra to lower my resale value.

I agree with Tomi. LTD is just an out-there price point for many, and a colored circle or triangle isn’t anything worthwhile for someone who may stretch their budget. This really should’ve been paired with the Team line imo, giving it incentive over the Pro line where the price gap isn’t as big.

But still, 3T is charging a big premium (for what you get) from $25-$50. If memory serves right, FSA doesn’t do that with their SL-K line, and the use of color is a bit more tasteful there.

I agree with Greg not with other guys.
Maybe, 3T could offer them at the same price but…
Just to give my personal point of view, I know a custom painter and he doesn’t open his lab for $25-$50 per item, so maybe the extra charge is a good deal.
Keep in mind that if I change the characteristics of product I lose relevant warranty, so if I can pay for them it is better buying them from supplier, directly.
I bought only one 3T’s stuff (clincher wheels, very impressive brake tracks) and I am very happy for them, it has a very good customer service.
