BIKERUMOR MINI-REVIEW: I met the owner of Action Wipes at Interbike and grabbed a few samples from the Dirt Demo while waiting for the shuttle back from the desert to the strip.  While the packaging above is not the current packaging (which is why she was handing them out in bulk at the demo), the insides are the same.

Action Wipes’ slogan is “Your Face is not a Baby’s Butt…Don’t Wipe it Like One.”  Seeing as how our vehicles and and home have a constant supply of baby wipes, and I’m guilty of using them for face and other body parts post-ride, I get what she’s saying.  And Action Wipes do work immensely better than baby wipes for aprés ride clean ups..they smell better and they feel better, and they’re more durable.

The wipe in the photo above is pictured post-use, they’re clean, bright and white when they come out of the pack, but this is the last one I had and didn’t think through the picture taking process until after it wiped the dust and dirt from Ocala’s Santos mountain bike trail from my face and the funk from my pits and feet.  So while it ain’t a pretty picture (mental or otherwise), I felt pretty fresh on the ride back to the house.

Action Wipes are a mostly natural, refreshing wipe that’s perfect for any athlete when a shower isn’t in the immediately future.  Check out the ingredients and more details after the break…

Action Wipes are textured to help remove dirt and grit, and they’re far more durable than baby wipes.  In fact, they even offer a mini mesh bag that you can store your used AW’s in, throw in the wash and re-use them for something else.  My guess is they’d pick up dust from a car dash pretty darn well or make a great disposable shop rag.

Click to enlarge and read better.  The key ingredients are:

  • Water
  • Cocamidopropyl pg-dimonium chloride phosphate
  • Capryl glucoside
  • Frankincense Oil
  • Eucalyptus Oil
  • Tea Tree Oil

The first three likely provide the light sudsing action that helps clean you off (and it is light…it doesn’t leave a foamy residue or anything).  The last three provide the fresh citrus scent and the antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-fungal properties.  They’re sourced as naturally as possible and contain no alcohol, parabens or other yucky stuff, which lets you feel good about what you’re wiping all over your largest organ.

They’re also pretty big.  This is a standard golf pencil and the only thing I could find quickly to provide a size reference. Actual size is 9″ x 10″.

They’re available direct from Action Wipes’ website or in some stores in singles, 15-packs and 25-packs, with the larger pack getting them down to $1 each.  Free shipping on orders over $50, too.  Made in the USA and cruelty free.

There’s really nothing not to like… feels fresh, reusable and you won’t smell like a two-year-old’s patootie.  And they’re way better than just using Axe body sprays to mask it, which will leave you smelling like a funky frat boy.

Wow, thank you so much for the review. You’re right about the first ingredients – “cocamidopropyl pg-dimonium chloride phosphate” is derived from pure coconut oil and is used for its gentle, anti-irritating cleansing properties. It also used for it’s anti-microbial preservative nature. “Capryl glucoside” is a coconut and sugar based mild surfactant and wetting agent. I know they sound scary, but we have to use their scientific chemical names as they’re legally required by the FDA. Thank you again!!
