SEA OTTER CLASSIC 2010 – Syncros took the wraps off several new carbon fiber mountain bike components, giving you the ability to run a full carbon cockpit from the brand.
The FL Carbon Saddle, above, uses carbon rails and a composite shell to dampen trail vibes and a leather cover and Aramid rear panels for durability. The superlight foam padding is contoured to provide center channel relief. Weight is 190g to 200g and it’s available in white and black. Surprisingly for a carbon-railed MTB saddle, there’s no rider weight limit, but it does require a clamp kit if you plan on running it with single-bolt posts that clamp from the sides. The rails are slightly taller than wide (9.6mm x 7mm) to give them a bit of extra strength, so they’re really made to run with more traditional posts that clamp from top and bottom.
Check the post and stem after the break…
MSRP on the FL Carbon Saddle is TBD.
The new FL Carbon Micro-Adjust Seatpost is Syncros’ lightest post at just 210g (27.2 x 350mm). It carries over their micro-adjust clamp from other posts and puts it atop a 350mm or 400mm matte UD (unidirectional) carbon fiber post. It’s available in 27.2, 30.9 and 31.6 diameters and MSRP ranges from $154.95 to $169.95 depending on girth and length.
Syncros’ new Carbon Stem has a 4D forged alloy body with a UD carbon exoskeleton to increase strength and stiffness. It has a bi-oval shape like its all-alloy brethren to reduce rotational forces. Matte carbon finish with a polished black alloy cap. MSRP is TBD, and it’ll be available in 70mm to 130mm lengths with a +/- 6º rise. Weight is 130g.
These items combine with the other carbon FL items Syncros showed at Interbike and the recently announced sub-1400g FL Carbon wheelset to create a full carbon cockpit for your XC or marathon mountain bike.
