The breaker multi tool full windsor (1)

Anyone who has ever struggled to use a small, fiddly chain breaker that was part of a multi-tool take note. Based on a similar design to their popular Nutter multi-tool, Full Windsor is back with a new tool that forgoes the 15mm wrench in favor of an appropriately sized chain tool. Aptly named the Breaker, the tool manages to combine a chain tool with a tool grade stainless steel pin along with a number of other useful functions, a bit set, and even socket set.

The original Nutter was good, but for the average cyclist on a bicycle without bolt-on hubs, the Breaker looks even better. Wrap up the details next…

Using a similar shape to the original Nutter, the Breaker is cast from 304 stainless steel that is tool hardened for a super durable body. While the bottom of the tool still features a polycarbonate tipped tire lever, it’s the other end of the tool which has received a face lift. Instead of the 15mm wrench the tool is now equipped with a legitimate chain breaker. As an added bonus the lever arm for the chain breaker doubles as a magnetic tool bit holder which can be removed from the chain tool and installed in two different positions to be used as a bit driver or an L-wrench.

With an additional bit driver, the tool can also be used as a socket driver with 5-13mm sockets included with the Breaker Plus.

Like the Nutter the Breaker ships with a classy leather pouch with bit pockets made from recycled inner tubes. The pouches can be strapped to the backs of saddles, hung from top tubes, or you can use the straps to wrap around a spare tube and pump and have a nice little flat pack that stores in a jersey pocket.

Weighing in at 100g for the tool and 185g for the full tool pouch, the tool can store two bits magnetically so you can leave the pouch at home if you think you don’t need it. Breaker tools will first be available through the Full Windsor Kickstarter with prices starting at $55 with black or brown tool pouches with free shipping to the U.S. and UK.

The Breaker features:

  •  Chain Breaker with tool hardened stainless steel pin (replaceable)
  •  Glass filled nylon tire lever with a steel core
  •  Spoke key
  •  3,4,5,6,8mm hex tool bits
  •  Philips head screw driver (PH2)
  • T25 torx bit
  • Tool bit extender
  • Bottle opener
  • Leather (jet black or burnt brown) and recycled inner tube pouch

Very cool, a lot of these multi tools are great until you actually have to use them. This one seems like it would be very usable. The only issue I see is that the tire lever part should be replaceable, if it isn’t already. I’ve seen my fair share of them break.

Agreed ^ Looks well-made, and useful leverage at different angles. Some sort of metal core like the handle of the lever with a insert pressed into place with a bit or retaining compound. Advantage of adding additional socket drivers or bits as well.

Wait, did they overlook the required, dedicated bottle opener?

@Ryan, they included it. It’s in the hollow of the handle, near the top.

I wouldn never tighten a stem with a screwdriver.

I got the original “Nutter” off Kickstarter for my Fixie/SS and it’s as solid as a rock. That Tyre lever will take a hammering to even bend, let alone break. It’s very well made tool and I’ve made endless use of mine. The only drawback is it’s a little “weighty” compared with the smaller multi-tool offerings around, but it more than makes up for it in usability.

I think the Nutter is awesome, I need to get one. The only thing I wish they would have kept though is the 15mm wrench, it could have easily been incorporated into the end of the handle in the cut out.
