Apparently, we weren’t the only ones who liked the Jamis Renegade adventure gravel road bike. According to the brand, dealers and riders have been clamoring for more of it, particularly ones made of steel.

To oblige, they’re launching two new models, the Renegade Exploit with Reynolds 631 tubing and Renegade Expat with Reynolds 520. Both are 2016 models that’ll hit retailers this summer, but we suspect we’ll get some hands on them at Sea Otter next week. The video gives just a glimpse, the pics below do much more…

2016 Jamis Renegade Exploit steel adventure gravel road bike

The Exploit, above, gets the higher end frame and better drivetrain and brakes. Spec hasn’t been divulged, but it’s looking like 105 and TRP HyRD calipers.

2016 Jamis Renegade Expat steel adventure gravel road bike

The Expat has the 520 frame with FSA cranks and TRP Spyre mechanical calipers. We’re guessing it’s a Ritchey cockpit on both, Clement tires and Alex Rims’ ATD470 Disc rims. If they follow suit with the carbon fiber Renegade, they’ll have 42mm tire clearance (35mm with fenders) and have mounts for those plus racks.

Liking the Exploit. Reynolds 631 might be the perfect steel tubing for this sort of bike.

How dare they! How am I supposed to choose now? The sexy colourway of the Renegade Elite, or the luscious steel appeal of the Exploit?

I’m surprised I have yet to see this bike in local stores, and release model reviews are few and far inbetween.

@butt The Renegade models have been very difficult to actually get from Jamis. I think they underestimated how popular the bike would be. I’m looking forward to seeing these at Sea Otter

@butt & @Nick, the Renegade models have not been difficult to get… they have been impossible (not the fault of your local Jamis dealer). Jamis has always made some great bikes and the new models should continue in that tradition.

Good to see the very practical steel all surface bikes that are being produced and embraced by riders. Coming full circle to the springy ride and toughness of steel. Most of us don’t need a plastic bike that is 430 grams lighter. Cheaper to just control our food portions and lose 3 lbs.
