OneUp Components 94-96 BCD narrow-wide single-chainring

Got an crankset laying around just begging to be converted to a modern 1x setup? OneUp’s got just the solution with their new narrow/wide chainring that uses a unique slotted bolt hole, allowing it to fit both 94BCD (SRAM XO1/X1/GX) and 96 BCD (Shimano compact triple M782/M672/M622/M612) outer bolt patterns.

While it’s a straight replacement for SRAM’s cranksets (in which case you may want to consider their SRAM Direct Mount chainrings), it’s the 96 BCD option for Shimano’s multi-ring spiders that is the shining light. Typically, when converting an older crankset to a 1x system, the chainline can be thrown off. So, OneUp includes a set of shims to help get it back to 49mm, which biases the chain closer to the largest cog to reduce noise and wear. That helps your drivetrain last just a bit longer while also running more quietly.

The chainring is able to handle two different BCDs by using a slotted bolt hole. The two applications are very close to each other, and once all four bolts are in place, there’s no way for the chainring to slide one way or the other.

The included shims push the chainring to 49mm when used on a 2×10 crankset by going between the ring and spider. For triple cranksets, you’d just mount the chainring to the inside of the spider on the larger set of bolt holes, then use the shims between the chainring and bolt head so you can reuse the bolts that came with your cranks.

Retail is $47, and claimed weights are 43g (30T), 49g (32T) and 58g (34T). Like the rest of their rings, it’s made from 7075-T6 alloy to last for many miles.

  1. It’s slightly different, and if anything, better than the older Raceface design. The OneUp guys would know, being that all 3 worked for Raceface, and started OneUp under the table.
