The all-new Transition Patrol carbon might be the flagship frame for 2016, it saves about 600g off the alloy model shown here, but for those of us with day jobs, it’s their new budget builds that might be most appealing.
For 2016, Patrol, Scout and Smuggler get $2,999 entry level complete bikes with a SRAM X5 1×10 drivetrain enhanced with the e13 extended range big cog, Deore brakes, and KS e10 100mm dropper seatpost. Shops will like it to – it comes preassembled and ready to roll out the door.
The Rapture cyclocross bike was a frame only, now it’s available as a single speed complete build with their Fast dropout system so you can adjust chain tension or set it up with gears.
Scout and Smuggler (shown here) both got a slightly higher BB, up 4mm, which improved rear tire clearance at the seatstay bridge and gave them a little more ground clearance.
That pushed the chainstays out 1mm, the rest of the geometry stayed the same otherwise.
We posted a short ride review of the Smuggler 29er here from our visit to Transition’s HQ.

Most of the rest is just pics of the bikes and 2016 build specs…enjoy!
Note the TR 500 DH bike’s cable ports, which double as bump stops for the dual crown fork and are far more integrated that those on the Smuggler.
Adjustable wheelbase thanks to flip-flop axle inserts.
Hardtail fans aren’t left wanting with the 27.5″ Transam’s 130mm fork and low standover height.
Little rippers are equally prepped with the recent introduction of the Rip Cord. Full specs on this bike posted here.
