DZR H20 Shoes
DZR has just announced they’ve updated their H20 waterproof clipless riding sneaker, a casual-styled model intended for commuters or trail riders who won’t let a downpour cancel their ride. The H20’s feature fully seam sealed construction and uppers made from DWR treated sheepskin leather. The full-grain hide provides a soft touch and conforming fit, and the gaiter-style top cuff should snug up to your leg and keep water from entering through the top of the shoe.
DZR also employs their H20 Hydro Barrier waterproof membrane which is sandwiched between moisture wicking mesh layers to keep water out, particularly from the cleat opening on the sole, and keep perspiration under control.
One revision is the H20’s now feature a stiffer, metal reinforced co-molded nylon shank for more efficient power transfer on the pedals. As part of DZR’s street collection, the shoes also include their clever variable flex design that makes for easy and comfortable walking. The ‘link traction’ gum rubber outsole’s chain-link tread is engineered for optimal traction and durability.
Other nice touches include elastic lace catches that keep loose ends out of your chainring, and a reflective heel badge to increase your visibility on the road. The H20 shoe is available online as one unisex style in sizes 37-47 (US sizes 5 to 14). They only come in the black/orange color scheme seen here, and sell for $169.00 USD. For a few extra bucks, DZR’s shoes can be purchased with Shimano or Crank Brothers cleats pre-installed.
DeFeet’s Artist Series Socks
DeFeet has teamed up with two companies to create their artist series socks. The first is North Carolina’s Ridge Supply, a cycling apparel company started by road rider Matt Hawkins. Just over a year ago, Hawkins was hit by a truck while riding in an all-black outfit (he was using a rear blinker light at the time), and after recovering from a broken pelvis he now sticks with brighter colors for his riding gear.
The Ridge Supply series highlights the various shades of blue that Matt often sees around his locale in the Blue Ridge Mountains. There are six designs in the series, which all feature 6” cuffs. Five of the styles utilize DeFeet’s Aireator construction, and there’s one Woolie Boolie model for colder weather (above right).
