After years of painting every bike to come out of Alchemy, the artisans behind the scenes are setting up their own brand to bring the same level finish to individual customers and even other frame builders. The newly named Ethic Paint Works studio is an offshoot of the custom bike builder to deliver unparalleled finishes to anyone in need of a paint job, both consumers and other builders, alike. Whether it’s repainting personal bikes or just painting a stem and seatpost to match a new frame, Ethic is about offering better access to top quality custom finishes.

Still operating in-house with Alchemy, head painter Shane Haberland and graphic designer Nick Hemendinger are establishing the Ethic Paint Works team to offer their services to a broader audience. Having finished bikes in Serotta before coming to Alchemy the two have put together some impressive and elaborate pant schemes. And now adding Phil Harwood who joins after years painting at Independent Fabrication, the new brand will be able to offer whatever you can imagine (or have them imagine for you) from classic simple color paint jobs to some much more creative and more colorful alternatives.
The hands behind Ethic Paint Works have actually already been finishing bikes for several premium frame builders for years, including a number of bikes that have been exhibited at NAHBS past. So it seems fitting that in a couple of months, Ethic will be showing their wares under their own name when NAHBS comes to Sacramento in early 2016. Expect to see several show stoppers there, as Ethic aims to demonstrate their capabilities to both custom builders and individual bike owners/buyers.
