With the cold weather upon us (well, many of us at least!) the careful art of layering and dressing for cycling becomes arguably the most important part of your ride.
San Francisco’s Mission Workshop has several new Merino wool garments to keep you warm, dry and comfortable when battling against nasty winter weather. Let’s take a look at three layers from the inside out…
The Sector Merino Crew is a completely casual looking tee with all the technical advantages we appreciate from our riding jerseys. The shirt is made from Mission Workshop’s Core Nylon Merino Wool, a soft and lightweight fabric that retains strength and durability with its wool-over-nylon construction.
Riders can wear the shirt as a base layer or enjoy Merino’s natural odor resistance and temperature regulation in any scenario, from camping to hiking to simply taking the edge of a scorching summer day. The Sector Merino Crew is available in black, blue or olive colors. It comes in sizes S-XL and sells for $72.
The Faroe Merino Wool Pullover is made from 100% mid-weight merino wool. Its soft touch fabric allows it to be worn as an insulating layer or as a next-to-skin base garment. The Faroe features a smoothly integrated and tailored hood, while boasting simple styling with no printed design or glaring logos. The pullover comes in Heather Gray only, in S-XL sizes. It sells for $189.
Mission Workshop’s well established Bosun Dynamic Hooded Merino Wool Jacket has been re-released in this limited production run with newly refined tailoring, a new zip-off hood and zippered front hand warmer pockets. The jacket is made from Australian Merino wool blended with 2% Lycra to increase its stretch and durability. It can be worn as an outer layer or under a waterproof shell in wet conditions.
The jacket includes reinforced shoulder and elbow patches, media ports to accommodate your mobile devices, and a rear pocket. The Bosun comes in Black only, and sizes S-XL are available for the cost of $285.
