Admit it. The new Log Lady is a looker. A far cry from many of the technologically advanced marvels that are typically screaming for attention, the Log Lady is built with its own tech – just hidden away beneath the subdued paint.

In the world of carbon bikes and hydroformed aluminum frames, steel tubing manipulation often doesn’t get more than a nod for the butting profile. With the right tubing supplier though, there are some cool things that can be done to shape it internally to make stronger and lighter frames. All-City’s new A.C.E. (air hardened custom extruded) tubing is seamless and since it is custom extruded, All-City’s engineers were able to call out precise tube thicknesses. Of particular interest is the “internal gusset.” Instead of using a down tube gusset on the outside of the frame, the downtube is drawn so that it is thicker at the bottom than it is at the top. This reinforces the area that typically calls for an external gusset making for a clean look and a strong frame. The steel is also ED coated which goes a long way towards rust prevention. Compared to some single speeds on the market, the Log Lady is a bit more expensive but the custom tubing and ED coating are touches you won’t find on many cheaper frames.
Using a 44mm head tube up front, frame can run the 4130 chromoly 5 piece fork that comes with the frameset or any tapered suspension fork with the right headset lower. In addition to a 68mm threaded bottom bracket, Log Lady runs standard 100/135mm QR spacing front and rear. To allow for single speed use, the frames sees investment cast dropouts featuring the Hennepin bridge and built in chain tensioners.
Designed around 27.5″ wheels with short chain stays and a 100mm fork, All-City calls out the tire clearance as 27.5 x 2.4″. However, they go on to say that the frame also clears a WTB 27.5 x 2.8″ tire on Velocity 35mm rims. Pricing is set for $1499 complete or $899 for the frameset, with bikes arriving at retailers in June.
